Abstract

Family is the first and of utmost importance of a child's life. They bear a noticeably significant role in their efforts to develop children personality as well as in early literacy education concurrent with the present digital age. This research aims to explore how YouTube and parents play a role in childhood literacy education. The subject of this research is a family that lives at Jalan Karawitan, Buah Batu, Bandung, categorised into middle-up economy class. Qualitative approach implementing one-on-one interview is utilised. The research shows that YouTube acts as an information and science media for children in their knowledge acquistion, particularly in easing school assignments. Parents adapt to the children's world full with technology, giving room for children to explore what they found on the digital media through smartphone and gadgets while also directing them not to stray from the accepted values and norms; this includes guidance in moral and religious values while still avoiding restraining kids in their exploration.
